Meet the Team
Sam began his Yachting career many years ago on an 80m yacht whose voyage took him on an epic adventure to Thailand and back. He loved life at sea, and that sealed his fate. He worked his way up from a deckhand and qualified as a Master 3000GT. Many years later, he stepped away from sea life to concentrate on family and recruitment in the Oil an Gas Industry as well as commercial shipping industry.
Having spent a dozen or so years in the Yachting industry Sam will bring a thorough understanding of crew needs and desires, as well as empathizing the issues from the Captain’s perspective. This combined with a formal accreditation and training in professional recruitment practises, means that he has all the necessary qualifications to provide a high level of service.
Sam is a very sociable, approachable guy who aims to build a company with Franc Jansen ,based on trust , professionalism and of course, the personal touch
Alexis grew up in Levallois-Perret a city near Paris. A university graduate in Spanish literature and history, he lived in Spain for two years. On returning to France, Alexis studied accountancy in Paris Descartes.
Nearly 10 years ago, Alexis started his career as an accountant at Medecin du Monde, a big NGO. Being interested in international relationships as well as being fluent in English, French and Spanish he was responsible of many different projects Medecin du Monde had around the world. Alexis worked on projects in Africa, South America and Eastern Europe.
Five years ago, Alexis moved to the South of France, and started his career as an accountant in the yachting industry. He worked for premium yachting companies in Monaco being responsible for the management of the operational accounts of a fleet of yachts as well as chartering accounting and general company accounting.
Alexis has easy going manners, and has the ability to communicate effectively with people on all levels. The combination of his expertise in yacht accounting, language and people skills make Alexis an asset to the company.
Steve is a key member of the JMS team and keeping the JMS fleet in compliance.
Steve O’Callagan is Class I (Master Mariner) with over 21 years’ experience in commercial shipping, serving in general cargo and container ships, passenger / freight ferries and cruise liners.
Since 1990 Steve has specialised in assisting ship and yacht management companies develop simple and effective systems and procedures that facilitate compliance with the requirements of ISO 9002, ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC, and provide effective support to the Master.
In November 2003 Steve discovered yachting. Since then, he has been engaged as Designated Person Ashore (DPA), Company Security Officer (CSO) and Yacht Manager for yachts and pax yachts 8,500 GT. and specialising in conducting Internal Audits and on board training.
Steve is very approachable and keen to explain complicated regulations in an easy to understand way. Being an expert in Flag State and Class regulations, Steve is providing effective support to Captains and crew to keep their yachts fully compliant.
Sophie is an outgoing business woman who is full of passion and energy in everything she does. She holds both BA English Literature degree from China and an MSCs International Accounting Finance and Strategy degree from the UK. Sophie has travelled to more than 20 countries during her studies and work.
With a background in International Project Management background, she was responsible for EU-China intergovernmental business relations and programmes. Sophie also played a key role in a high-calibre sales in the provision of global educational teams and multinational recruitment team between China and the UK in her career.
Sophie been a practising Chinese traditional calligrapher for 15 years, . She also loves to play badminton and sing karaoke with friends.
Martina was raised in a small village named Groet in the north of Holland. Having an international background, Martina was educated from the age of four in French, English and Dutch at the European School. Being completely tri-lingual she switches effortlessly from one language to another.
She discovered the cosmopolitan city of Amsterdam at 18 where she attended the University of Amsterdam. She studied Pedagogics and Anthropology. She began her career working in an Ethnology Museum in Amsterdam. To further her interest in life, she relocated to Paris and gained valuable experience before moving to the South of France. During her diverse career Martina has worked as a Real Estate Agent, Teacher, Museum Assistant, and various administrative positions as well as operating a stool on the local markets.
Her favourite pastimes are travelling, reading and running half-marathons. Dynamic, sociable and an excellent sportswoman, Martina is a good all rounder, helping the team with admin, sales and marketing.
Carla grew up on Guernsey where she often went out on her Uncles boat going from island to island at the weekends.
She studied Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy at college and went on to work in Harvey Nichols flagship store in London then onto Australia at a 5 star day spa in Sydney, thus establishing total professionalism and attention to detail.
When returning from Australia she wanted to do something different and the opportunity came up to work back in London for a very well established Yacht Brokerage as front of house where she stayed for nearly 11 years, gaining valuable knowledge in various departments. Being a natural people person her favourite part of the job was welcoming and looking after visitors into the office, as well as the fast paced environment.
Having moved down to the south coast after tiring of the commute, she went to work for an IT Recruitment company for a year before joining JMS Crew.
Carla is a friendly, outgoing person who enjoys walks with her dog on the beach and dabbles in a bit of upcycling.
Michael Reardon is the president and owner of Reardon Yacht Consulting. Operating from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Michael brings the perfect skill set to the job. He began his maritime vocation inauspiciously as a humble boat builder at age 13, assembling a plywood hydroplane with plans from Popular Mechanics magazine. From there, his upbringing included formal training in sailing and club racing, tall ships adventures and a formal education in engineering and Naval Architecture. Reardon was a captain and ran sail and motor yachts, private and charter for six years.
Returning to land in 1992 to start a family, he joined Bob Saxon Associates as fleet manager. In 1994 Michael moved to Fraser Yachts where he started their Florida yacht services operations. In the earlier part of his 11 years with Fraser Yachts he became a partner. During the bulk of his tenure he was responsible for all aspects of the international yacht services division, directing a team of over 30 professionals dedicated to yacht management, charter and crew placement. The fleet of yachts grew from nothing to over 80 yachts in the charter and management departments. His last position at Fraser was manager of sales and marketing, supervising 28 brokers worldwide. Reardon then joined Merrill-Stevens Dry Dock Company, a land mark shipyard in Miami, Florida and led their expanding operations into the yacht services arena.
Michael has regularly appeared on the Travel Channel’s airing of “In Search of Million Dollar Yachts,” interviewed as an industry expert to help explain why people buy yachts. His industry contributions have included emceeing the Superyacht Society “Crew Training Seminars” for eight years, making regular speaking engagements and being a founding member of the Mediterranean Yacht Broker’s Association (MYBA) Yacht Management committee. Michael has also been involved in the construction and management of such famous yachts as Octopus (425ft/130m), Tatoosh (300ft/91.5m), Skat (233ft/71m), Meduse (200ft/61m), Perseus (164ft/50m) and CV-9 (130ft/40m).
