Arne Jansson
Yacht Manager
Languages: English and Swedish.
Certifications: Master Mariner.
After spending several years cruising aboard his own yacht, Arne gradually transitioned into the professional yachting scene when he discovered that his skills were highly valuable to owners using their vessels for both racing and leisure cruising in warmer climates.
From that point onward, he began working closely with yacht owners and their representatives on a wide range of experiences, from competitive sail racing in the Caribbean to elegant dinner cruises in New York Harbour. With a deep interest in travel and diverse cultures, Arne also contributed to planning and executing excursions to both well-known and emerging yachting destinations around the world.
In early 2000, he earned his MCA 3000 G.T. Master’s Ticket and has since worked predominantly as a captain on motor yachts ranging from 45 (148) to 70 meters (230 feet). His extensive cruising throughout the Mediterranean has been driven by a passion for discovering the ideal locations to explore by sea.
Arne continually seeks new destinations and embraces innovative onboard solutions to enhance the experience for yacht owners while improving safety and efficiency for crew.
Now recently settled in Mallorca, he enjoys immersing himself in the local culture and landscape, exploring the island’s scenery on foot or by bike, often accompanied by friends.

Damian Sharp
Yacht Manager

Damian Sharp is a highly experienced Yacht Manager at JMS with over 25 years of operational and technical leadership in the maritime industry. He has served as Captain, Build Captain, Technical Manager, and Yacht Manager across a wide range of vessels from 20 metres (66 feet) to 60 metres (197 feet) , with deep expertise in both new build supervision and complex refit projects. His career highlights include managing fleets for other management companies, where he oversaw technical operations, class and flag compliance, shipyard coordination, and refit logistics across Europe.
With a foundation in hospitality (OND in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management from Buxton College of Further Education), Damian brings a client-focused approach to yacht management. His technical command and strong communication with owners, shipyards, and regulatory bodies ensure vessels under his care meet the highest operational and safety standards.
After a sabbatical from yachting during which he returned to the UK for family commitments, Damian has re-entered the industry with renewed focus. Backed by decades of experience and a robust technical skill set, he now applies his deep knowledge and leadership to every project and vessel under his management at JMS.

Gianluca Cirillo
Technical Manager
Languages: English and Italian.
Certification: Marine Surveyor and Engineering.
Gianluca’s career started in Malta at the Palumbo Shipyard as a Ship Repair Manager. After a busy time there, Gianluca joined the yachting industry at The Italian Sea Group as a Technical and Quality Engineer, gaining significant experience in yacht construction.
Thereafter, Gianluca joined Lloyds Register for the following 5 years as a Marine Surveyor demonstrating his passion for the sea and the yachting world.
In his free time, he enjoys skiing, playing tennis and football with friends, until the knee injury!

James Kirby
Fleet Manager

Languages: English and Spanish, basic French and Italian
James proudly calls Barcelona home. Originally from Nottingham and raised in Cambridgeshire, England, it has been over two decades since he last lived in the UK, his journey has since taken him across continents and into the heart of the yachting world.
After completing his studies in Media, James pursued educational roles abroad, working in both the USA and Norway. His path soon shifted toward the maritime world in the early 2000s, when he entered the seagoing side of the yachting industry, a decision that shaped the trajectory of his professional life.
Rising steadily through the ranks, James advanced from deckhand to Chief Officer on vessels up to 100 metres (328 feet) , and ultimately to Captain, commanding yachts in the 60-meter range. His most recent command was aboard a 55 metres (180 feet) charter vessel. Alongside earning his MCA Master 3000GT licence and other key certifications, James developed a deep reservoir of hands-on experience, particularly over the past decade aboard high-demand and dual-season charter yachts. These years at sea equipped him with comprehensive, practical expertise in operating ISM, ISPS, and MLC-compliant vessels to the highest standards.

Joao Garcia
Technical Manager
Languages: English and Portuguese.
Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Joao has spent over 15 years working with some of the world’s largest superyachts and managing major vessel projects across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. With a background in marine engineering , he combines technical expertise with a broad international perspective.
He has hands-on experience leading large teams and overseeing complex refits of superyachts over 80 metres (262 feet) long. Joao enjoys working through the challenges of shipyard projects, contract negotiations, and finding innovative solutions to keep things running smoothly.
Outside of work, Joao is passionate about hiking and spending time in nature with his family. Exploring the outdoors and enjoying quality time with loved ones is an important part of his life, helping him stay balanced and inspired.
Joao’s approach is grounded, practical, and driven by a genuine love for the marine world and the natural environment.

Luca Mastrogiovanni
Fleet Manager
Languages: English, Italian and French.
Certification: Master 3000 GT.
With over 20 years of experience in yacht management, refit project oversight, and a broad spectrum of roles within the yachting industry, Luca brings a wealth of technical knowledge and hands-on expertise to every project. His impressive portfolio includes major refits on prestigious vessels such as MY Invictus, MY Lumber and SY M5 among many others.
Before transitioning into shore-based management, Luca served as Captain Engineer aboard MY Nova and MY Sabbia . In these dual-capacity roles, he was responsible for a wide range of critical functions, from selecting suitable vessels and shipyards, to supervising construction, overseeing commissioning, and ensuring technical compliance. His leadership extended to making key engineering decisions, always with precision and foresight.
Luca is known for his reliability, professionalism, and ability to deliver consistently high standards. His work has earned him glowing endorsements from industry peers:

Mac Auwers
Yacht Manager

Mac brings a wealth of expertise, strong leadership, and an enduring passion for life on the water.
Over the course of his career, he has embraced every challenge with confidence and humility, most notably taking command of a 43 metres (131 feet) sailing yacht at the age of just 26. Mac is driven by a belief that true professionalism emerges when things go off script. In those moments, he values clear headed decision making and collaboration over ego or emotion.
When he is not managing yachts, Mac is most at home in the great outdoors. Whether he is hiking, camping, embarking on his 4×4 or motorcycle road trips, or simply enjoying time on the water, his adventurous spirit is always in motion.
His practical skills, combined with a deep-rooted love for the yachting world, make Mac an invaluable member of our growing team, someone who leads with both competence and genuine enthusiasm.

Miquel Sole Rebull
Recruitment Consultant

Qualifications: Master’s Degree In Naval Architecture And Ocean Engineering, Master’s Degree In Marine Engineering, Bachelor’s Degree In Nautical Sciences, Bachelor’s Degree In Ship Systems And Propulsion, Associated Degree In Ship Maintenance, Associated Degree In Fishing, Navigation And Maritime Transportation.
Born in Cambrils in Catalonia, Miquel is currently living in the beautiful Tarragona area.
Miquel brings with him and incredible level of hands-on technical knowledge and a long list of academic qualifications, with two bachelor’s degrees: in Ship Systems & Propulsion, and in Nautical Science. In addition, Miquel also has two masters’ degrees in Marine Engineering and in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering.
His passion for the sea began at a very young age. Miquel started sailing on a small single-handed dinghy (Optimist) when he was only 8 years old. He then moved to the vaurien class. Miquel has been in many ranks and positions both onboard and ashore. From Cadet to Technical Superintendent. His first position on board was on a fishing trawler as a deckhand. A lot of hard work but rewarding!
Well-travelled, Miquel has cruised the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the Atlantic, the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, the Black Sea and the Japan sea. His favourite spot is the Marina Port Tarraco, the unknown pearl of the Mediterranean Sea.

Nicholas Gray
President of JMS USA
Languages: English.
Certification: Master 3000 GT and Certified Diving Instructor.
Nick has over 18 years’ experience in yachting including 4 years ashore.
Born in Hamilton, New Zealand, Nick lived mostly in Tauranga, an amazing beach area. An incredibly active and passionate person who started sailing at 17 and completed all yacht courses to the Master 3000 GT. He is also a certified Diving Instructor.
Nick spent 1 year as a Deckhand and was then promoted to his first mates’ job on a 41 meter (135 feet) Lurssen, MY Blind Date and, thereafter, worked mostly on 50 meters (170 feet) up to 73 meters (240 feet) yachts.
Well-travelled, Nick has cruised the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Bahamas, East Coast US, South Pacific, Central and South America; and now lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
During his spare time, Nick loves Rugby, spending time with his children and loves to BBQ.

Rob Pijper
Operations Director
Languages: English and Dutch.
Certification: Surveyor, ISM, ISPS, MLC, and ISO certification.
Rob Pijper brings a formidable depth of technical, operational, and compliance expertise to his role as Operations Director, underpinned by a career spanning senior maritime leadership across classification, engineering, and vessel management. Holding a Chief Engineer Unlimited license, Rob has built a reputation for excellence in both commercial shipping and the yachting sectors.
He spent a significant portion of his career at Lloyd’s Register, where he held several high-level positions. Beginning as Senior Surveyor and Senior Auditor in the Port of Rotterdam, Rob went on to become Manager of the Marine Management Systems Office, overseeing ISM, ISPS, MLC, and ISO certifications, first in the Nordic Area, then expanding his oversight to the Western Area, and later all of Northern Europe. His leadership extended further as Operations Manager, responsible for field operations and plan approval across Western and Northern Europe, including key maritime nations such as Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Poland, the Baltics, Ukraine, Russia, and Belgium.
Following his tenure at Lloyd’s Register, Rob transitioned into yacht operations, taking on the role of Vessel Manager aboard the iconic converted tug/icebreaker MY Legend. In this multifaceted position, he was responsible for the vessel’s technical, operational, financial, commercial, and human resources management. His hands-on contributions have included the development of a comprehensive POLAR manual, the modernization of management systems, and oversight of major refits and warranty phases for several notable vessels—including MY Legend, the 90 metre (295 feet) Dar, the conversion of the 70 metre (230 feet) Project Master and the 74 metre (243 feet) MY Cocoa Bean among others.
Rob’s broad scope of experience, from compliance frameworks to vessel engineering and operations, makes him an indispensable figure in the JMS team, capable of navigating the most complex maritime challenges with technical rigour and strategic vision.
When he is not managing fleets or refining operational systems, Rob enjoys resetting his mind through maintenance work on old furniture and homes. Winter months find him skiing through scenic alpine terrain, while summer days are often spent sailing small open boats, reconnecting with the fundamentals of wind, water, and simplicity.

Toby Jakeman
Yacht Manager
Languages: English.
Certification: Master 500 GT (Unlimited) and Certified Marine Instructor.
With a Chief Mate 3000 GT and 200 GT Yacht Master, 4 years’ experience in yacht construction, 10 years as yacht crew and 3 years in management, Toby joins JMS USA with a wealth of experience and a passion for the maritime industry that began on the sunny coast of Brisbane, Australia.
Toby started as a Deckhand and worked his way up to the position of First Officer on a 46 meter (151 feet) vessel. Over the course of 10 years, Toby worked on multiple vessels, ranging from private to charter and expedition yachts.
In his free time, Toby enjoys watching the Philly sports teams, grilling and beach days with his wife and Corgi.
