Contract and Specification Review
The foundation of a successful build begins with careful review and negotiation of contracts and specifications. Before the yacht building contract is signed, the Owner’s team, broker, marine lawyers, and JMS Yachting collaborate to finalize the technical specification and contract details. Our experts provide critical advice on every aspect of the contract and build specifications, ensuring that all technical requirements are clearly defined and achievable. This early-stage oversight forms the cornerstone of effective New build supervision, giving owners peace of mind from the very start of their investment.
Budget Oversight
Financial management is an integral part of successful yacht building. Payments are typically structured in stages tied to specific milestones, which JMS Yachting carefully verifies before recommending releases. Our team assists with Owner-requested changes, negotiates change orders, tracks progress, and manages the acquisition of any additional supplies or expert services required. Six months prior to delivery, the crew is phased in, while JMS Yachting provides detailed budgets and submits comprehensive monthly reports to the Owner. Through proactive budgeting and oversight, we ensure the financial integrity of the project while maintaining transparency at every step.
Project Planning
With contracts signed and budgets approved, the next step is strategic project planning. JMS Yachting begins by assessing the required on-site resources for your build, providing consultancy for smaller projects or early stages, and scaling to full-time management for larger builds. We work alongside the Owner’s representatives, brokers, designers, and crew, coordinating regular shipyard meetings to review progress and resolve outstanding issues. Effective project planning is essential to successful New build supervision, setting the framework for smooth execution and timely delivery.
Project Management
Our team ensures that every phase of construction is carefully monitored. By providing full-scale project management, JMS Yachting coordinates the various contributors to the build, from shipyard staff to external consultants, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and according to specification. Frequent inspections, status meetings, and technical guidance guarantee that the build remains on track, while any potential challenges are addressed promptly. Detailed Reporting

Each month, JMS Yachting delivers a detailed progress report available online 24/7, including quality control advice, technical recommendations, and suggested improvements. Our project managers visit the yard multiple times per month to oversee inspections, meetings, and preparation work, ensuring that every aspect of the build meets our rigorous standards. These reports form an essential part of effective New build supervision, keeping Owners fully informed throughout the project.
Launch and Delivery
As the build nears completion, careful coordination of crew, final fitting-out, and sea trials becomes essential. JMS Yachting oversees operating budgets, safety systems, security plans, and MLC documentation, while managing crew training and final inspections. Our team ensures that all acceptance checks are completed and that negotiations with the shipyard are smooth, facilitating a seamless handover of your yacht. Our supervision ensures that every element of the launch meets expectations, protecting both your investment and your dream.
Ongoing Operation
Following delivery, Owners and Captains often require ongoing support for financial, safety, and operational management. JMS Yachting continues to provide comprehensive services, addressing warranty issues and ensuring maximum yacht availability. By preparing operational proposals in advance and maintaining strong communication, we ensure that the yacht remains fully functional, safe, and enjoyable to operate. With our expertise in New build supervision, we guide Owners through every stage of ownership, combining technical excellence with peace of mind.
