Richard Forward, Fleet Manager
We are pleased to introduce you to Richard Forward who has recently joined the JMS Yachting team. He brings extensive yachting experience.
His journey in yachting started at the young age of 13. Richard holds a Master 3000.
Tons qualification, backed by substantial practical experience, having sailed an impressive 140,000 nautical miles. He embarked on his yachting career as a deckhand on a beautiful 44m Dutch-built schooner. Over the years, he has worked on both private and charter yachts, both sail and power, ranging from 46 to 75 meters in length.
Richard’s impressive journey includes moving up the ranks from deckhand to chief officer while holding his Master 3000 Tons certificate. Notably, he enjoyed cruising the Pacific on yachts like M/Y Meduse and M/Y Twizzle, exploring immaculate reefs, and visiting breathtaking destinations.
His yachting adventures have taken him to regions around the world, including the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. He’s seen diverse places from New York to Alaska, the Galapagos, French Polynesia, Fiji, Tonga, Micronesia, and more.
Currently, Richard enjoys the tranquility of the hills behind Nice in France and has rekindled his love for cycling. He shares his home with his wife and two rescue cats, Alfred and Florence, who keep him on his toes.
When it comes to favourite ports, marinas, countries, locations, and destinations, Richard has a wealth of experiences, but a few stand out. His favourite port is the customs dock in Victoria, Seychelles. He has fond memories of Cabo San Lucas as his favourite marina. Namibia is his favourite country, and he enjoys the simplicity of a beachside café along the Corniche d’Or. As for retirement, it might be in France, but there’s always the possibility of discovering somewhere amazing during future travels.
Before his current role as Fleet Manager, Richard had 10 years of experience ashore, which includes involvement in yacht management and yacht system testing. We’re excited to have Richard’s wealth of experience and passion for yachting as part of the JMS Yachting team.
